Why My Site?
Okay, this goes out to the new publishers and web masters who are putting their site in jeopardy not knowing how to follow Google's guidelines for remaining indexed. I have been down that road before.
You got your site developed with fresh content and the layout you want. So, what should I do now? You will submit your site to Google, Yahoo and Bing. Other not so common search engines will index (list your website) your site or blog with their search engines because they pull the information from the top three above.
If you no longer see your site or blog indexed in Google's search results most likely they have removed your site from their index. An index is like the yellow pages for websites and blogs.

My site isn't listed. What should I do?
The answer is that you will need to fix the errors in your code such as broken links, bad grammar, spelling and punctuation, title tags, keywords and content description.
Here is an example of my website's code that has been corrected and accepted by Google to get back into their index (the italicized bold areas are the areas that I'm talking about):
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN">

Requesting reconsideration using Google Webmaster Tools
Rest of Article Continued Here
Okay, hopefully that sheds some light on what you will need to change. Please make sure that you don't keyword stuff meaning using the same word or partial words over and over again to gain more variance of keyword possibilities. It's also a good idea to not use the same words more than twice when putting in your description, title or keywords. Google loves relevance with different words. Take another look at the title tag I have and notice that the words are unique and relevant to my site's content.
<TITLE> How-2-Do-Stuff.Com - Your Place To DIY on Computers, Home Repair, Landscaping and More</TITLE>
You will need to put in the title tag, keywords and description for each web page you have and make sure that the information you enter is RELEVANT to that specific page.
You will then need to file for site recosideration.
To do this you will need to create an account for Google Web Master Tools and add your site to your account. Once your site has been added you will need to submit your site map in an XML format. (Links will be at the bottom of this article)
Okay, so the sitemap has been submitted. What is next?
You will need to fix any errors with your code like adding the title tags, keywords and description as mentioned above. Also be sure to correct any grammar, broken links, punctuation and spelling.
Now you are ready to file for site reconsideration. The link is at the bottom of this article.
How long will it take to get reindexed?
Google will send you a message in the Web Master Tools account within a week or so to let you know that the reconsideration has been processed. It may take up to three months to actually get your site or blog reindexed in their "yellow pages". To test if your site is indexed go to Google and type in site: yourwebsite.com
Yahoo Search and Bing are seperate from Google meaning that they have their own search engines and indexing. Your site or blog will most likely be listed shortly after you have submitted the site to them.
Tips To Help Get Your Site or Blog Ranked With Google and Others:
It's is quite a chore to get your site ranked highly with Google. Alexa and Google work together to determine which sites are more valuable than others. They are looking for fresh interesting content with back links leading to your site or blog.
What are back links?
Back links are incoming links from external sources (sites) linking into your website or blog that help optimize search engine queries using keywords. To learn more about search engine optimization download my free ebook Website For Beginners at the bottom of this page.
Here are the links as promised.
